Looking forward to logging the new diet and weight loss undertaking, training my ass off for LA Marathon starting this fall, and maybe even documenting some of the fun from work (we get to do and see alot of really cool stuff!).
And my dogs….you can safely bet that there will be a lot of the dogs.
Today was a crazy Monday (per the norm — Mondays are always chaotic in my office). But I bolted out of the office quickly after quitting time, I wanted to make sure I had time to get a run in before the sun went down. I can always get a little more work done after that (and I did).
So here’s what I’ve got going right now in the food/fitness realm:
Jumpstart to Skinny:
My co-worker and I started Bob Harper’s Jumpstart to Skinny last week. It’s a shockingly doable 3 week diet plan, though I think the workouts are pretty lame. I mean — I bought a Bob Harper book, give me a Bob Harper workout, you know? Unfortunately, we’re heading to the lake this weekend with Ryan’s family, so it’s all going to completely fall apart at that point. Womp womp. I think I will probably restart the whole thing (rather than finishing the last week like the train didn’t run off the rails all weekend). I’d like to see what kind of results I can get from the plan by following it 100% start to finish.
I’ve been doing a not totally normal Couch to 5k plan to get myself back in shape for marathon training — Zombies 5K. It’s weird going back to square one with running, but I’m really enjoying it again, which is a nice change. I’m going to discuss the break I took from running soon, but let’s just say that since the Tinkerbell 1/2 Marathon in February, I haven’t run. Not even a little bit. It was a huge change from the two years prior, when I was happily running races every other weekend.
So that’s the (very!) short version of what I’ve been up to.
What’s your diet/exercise plan look like these days?
Welcome to my first edition of Marvelous in my Monday! Here’s what made for an absolutely MARVELOUS day!!!
I started my day thinking that I was running late…half an hour late to work kind of late. But somehow I was a whole hour off. I iChatted my office manager letting her know that I was going to be late and still had to get gas. I was freaking out–I’m never late to work!! When she didn’t answer, it finally dawned on me that it was probably because she wasn’t even awake yet. Then I realized I had a whole extra hour to drink coffee. MARVELOUS!
I landed a new customer at work today. If you’ve ever started a conversation with a cold call, and eventually it came to a sale, you can appreciate how MARVELOUS this is.
I did a MARVELOUS job of eating healthfully at work. But then I went to Monday Night Football at Toby Keith’s. Hello fried pickles. And beer. And hot wings. And cornbread. Fail. But we had a MARVELOUS time! So I’ll count it as a win.
But honestly, the most marvelous part of this Monday? It’s over! And I’m home with my marvelous puppy, and my marvelous Ryan.
How did you make today marvelous?
This is happening in April. I’ve been wanting to run Ragnar for the last two years, and couldn’t do it for one reason or another. I’m so excited!!!
So my run for today hasn’t happened yet 😦 I overslept, and was feeling lazy this morning. I’ll try to get it in tonight after work. If it doesn’t happen, I’m not overly concerned. I ran the Long Beach Half Marathon on Sunday, and we’ll call this a recovery week.
For tomorrow, I’ve got a short run with the new Fleet Feet in Rancho Cucamonga on the schedule. It’s a new running group that runs every Thursday night. I’m really loving this group, and the new store they’re based out of. Until they opened, there wasn’t a running store for a good 30 miles in any direction for me. I think they’ll probably be seeing me alot in the next few months! If you’re a local Inland Empire runner, come out and support the business.
So onto more exciting running news…
In January, I’m heading to Orlando for the Walt Disney World Marathon, which I couldn’t be any more excited about. I’m running it with a few girls from my running club, and we’re going to have an amazing time (being tourists, taking pictures with Mickey, and oh yeah….running 26.2 miles).
Then in March, I’ll be running the LA Marathon (for the second time). It was my first marathon last year, and I absolutely HATED it. I love a good 13.1, but in light of completing my first full marathon, I swore to never run another one. Then the whole “peer pressure” thing happened. And then there was the offer of a Florida mini-vacation. And before you know it, I’m registered for Disney. Then I figured, since I’ll be trained for a full anyway, I might as well keep up the training and go for little LA Marathon redemption. I’ll be going after that race with an absolute vengeance.
I’m planning to my race history and schedule up on a new page here shortly, but first it’s time for a little work action.
Do you have any races scheduled for this year? Anyone in the So Cal area want a new runner/blogger friend? Let’s chat!
